When Neil changed to the 'new' DW setup he (eventually) ended up with 3 Paragon China cymbals:ġ. This was mounted upside down to the right of the 'China tree" and seems to have been used the least of the three. This is a much trashier cymbal and Neil seems to have used it a lot (Exit Stage Left video, 1984 live footage on YouTube).ģ. This was also mounted upside down on a stacker above the 20 inch China. 18 inch Wuhan - this is pre Wuhan's big "WUHAN Made in China" stamp. I see him use this frequently in live footage.Ģ. This cymbal was mounted upside down to the right of his ride. 20 inch Zildjian China - this had to have either been a Zildjian Swish, or a China Boy (High or Low) as these were the only China cymbals made by Zildjian at the time (Pang and Swish Knocker were also available, but for this particular cymbal I think we can rule them out). If I've gotten something wrong, please correct me.I'm here to learn! On Neil's old school kit (the Tama era) he used 3 China types:ġ. ![]() I would love to hear comments or feedback from anyone that owns or has knowledge of these cymbals. I recognize that he added more Chinas to the electronic kit, but for this discussion I am only concerned with the acoustic setup. I am researching the China type cymbals Neil used during the 'vintage kit" era (Slingerland/Tama), vs the 'new kit" (DW). I am a huge Neil Peart fan and have been working very hard on a 'vintage tribute kit' (not necessarily a replica, but close).
